Sal23urg - A Green Event Sets New Standards

The U19 Floorball World Cup Qualifier "Sal23urg" is a prime example of a sustainable event that sets new standards in sustainability.
The event was nominated for the sustainability competition "Win sustainably! 2022/23" and shows how green events can be successfully organised.

As part of the organisers of "Sal23urg", we placed great emphasis on sustainability and were certified as a "Green Event" by Klimabündnis Österreich and the province of Salzburg for this. The event took place in the climate-positive Sportzentrum Nord, which meets the Gold Standard and generates more energy than it consumes when the weather is right. Surplus energy was given to neighbouring businesses. In addition, the hall is completely barrier-free, which guarantees an inclusive experience for all visitors.

The event has shown that it is possible to organise a major international event at the highest sporting and environmental level. It has proven that sustainability and sport can go hand in hand and that it is possible to organise an event that is fair to both the athletes and the environment.

Awards and recognition

The efforts of HERZBLUAT and the U19 Floorball World Championship qualifier "Sal23urg" did not go unnoticed.

Diana Reuter (panoramic view) and Gregor Wimmer, Managing Director and owner of HERZBLUAT, accepted the award from Federal Minister Leonore Gewessler and Vice Chancellor and Federal Minister Werner Kogler at the Ministry of the Environment in Vienna.

This award underlines the importance of sustainability in the events industry and shows that innovative and sustainable strategies not only have a positive impact on the environment, but are also recognised and rewarded by the government.

There were 163 submissions in total.

We received the award from:

Federal Ministry for Climate Protection, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology,
Federal Ministry of Arts, Culture, Civil Service and Sport
and the
Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs.
